Artwork of the Day: “Intaglio Autumn” by Ann Dergara
I’ve chosen a warm, earthy abstract for today’s Artwork of the Day: “Intaglio Autumn” by Artexpo New York 2010 exhibitor Ann Dergara. Here’s a beautiful quote by the artist herself:
“And what is art… except a way to express ourselves when our thoughts and feelings catch in our throats and fail to transfer into a sound that is heard?”
Ann Dergara has a self-professed lifelong passion for art. Born in Greenville, South Carolina, she sold her first painting five years prior to beginning her formal education at Georgia State University. She has studied and worked with printmaking, etching, collagraphs and serigraphs, but her first love is painting.
As you can see from the image above, Ann’s work is unconstrained and expressive. Her vibrant palette is inspired by “a passionate respect for the harmony of nature,” a recurring theme in a body of work that brings her growing, international acclaim.
Ann is published by Slaymaker Fine Art. Look forward to seeing her work at Artexpo New York 2010!

Hi, Ann I really eyeonjd the party, and introduction to the Intention Box. I’ve been using my box since the party and love it! I set my intention each morning, and I find it brings a pause right away in the day, helps me to prioritize and focus. Sometimes, the intentions have been substantive (i.e. clean those old files off my work desk) and sometimes the intentions have been for me (i.e. it’s Sunday hit the beach!). Either way I’ve found the box is becoming a ritual in my morning something to look forward to with my coffee, before reading the paper. Take care!Michele
