Artwork of the Day: “Surface Creation” by Marks
Today’s Artwork of the Day is an exquisite abstract piece entitled “Surface Creation” by Marks. The artist is published by Charles Harold Company, which will be exhibiting at Artexpo New York 2010 this March (Booth 1122).
Here’s a little background on the artist (taken from the Charles Harold Company website):
Marks was born in Cincinnati Ohio in 1977. An unstable and transient childhood was anchored only by Marks’ unflagging passion for art, which he pursued academically. Marks attended college in Alabama and Florida where he then settled down to pursue art in his free time.
Growing up in an artistic family has created an impressive breadth of influence in Marks’ work. However, most prominent is the abstract expressionist school coupled with a distinct oriental element or reserved minimalism and composition. The canvas’ story is one of texture and layering intended to convey dimension. In more recent works this is interrupted by a personal iconography which pulls the image out of the color field genre and adds and element of sophistication by making a statement of contradiction. It is this paradoxical duality which most interests Marks and is the current direction of his work.
Look forward to seeing original works by Marks and many other innovative artists at Artexpo New York 2010! Here’s our complete (and growing!) Exhibitor List.
