The ART is what draws me in to Artexpo, but it is the PEOPLE that keep me smiling the whole time I’m there. It’s such a joy to walk amid the creative energy packed into that space. Pier 94 proved to be a great spot for art and artists. Parking next door – a rare thing in NYC – was the icing on the cake.

Michael, I believe the Javits is over 675000 square feet. The reason we changed the venue is that Pier 94 is rapidly establishing itself as NYC’s “Art Pier.” Last month alone, the venue hosted The Armory Show, The Architectural Digest Show, The Pier Antiques Show, among other prominent art fairs. It just seemed like a great fit for Artexpo.

On the topic of adult themes in art, I want to assure you that we’re taking your feedback to heart and are doing everything we can to ensure the next Artexpo is appropriate for all audiences. Marc, while I agree with the spirit of your comments, I have to confess we had a few complaints about Uncle Sam.

of that expression since the beginning of time. I suggest that before you starilize the show
you consider taking your kids to Disney World.

What was the square footage of the Javits Center?
Did I miss the reason for change of venue?
Excellent show all around with one glaring exception. There was one exhibit that had an ‘adult’ theme [think male genitals as the exclusive object of artistic expression]. I’m not going to debate either ‘what is art,’ or the first amendment – I am however, going to raise the issue of propriety – especially when so many of us brought kids to the show. A front wall to the booth with a sign reading ‘adults only’ would have been appropriate.
