SOLO Success Story: Andrew King

Canadian artist Andrew King came to Artexpo New York 2010 looking to make a splash in the U.S. art market. By the sounds of things, the first-year [SOLO] exhibitor more than accomplished his goal.

“I made lots of gallery contacts and a new client base. Artexpo definitely helped increase my exposure in the U.S. market.”

Andrew has a background in animation and design. That, combined with a strong sense of balance and a great sense of humor, made his whimsical, cartoon-inspired canvases irresistible to Artexpo attendees.

“I sold many paintings—enough to cover my expenses and then some.”

Sales were important for Andrew, but equally important was the fact that he made many new friends and contacts in the art world.

“It was a unique experience that I enjoyed. Hearing comments and encouragement from the customers, selling my art and making new friends definitely made it worth the effort.

“I was impressed by the professional overall ‘look’ of the expo, where details of the exhibition made it a classy yet casual event.”
