Video: Artexpo NY 2010 Exhibitor – Sculptor Bates Wilson

Bates Wilson

American sculptor Bates Wilson was a standout exhibitor at last month’s Artexpo New York. Bates gives his medium new life, transforming metal and recycled materials into streamlined furniture, soaring sculptures and more. Scouring this extraordinary artist’s site for more info, I came across this video, which highlights Bates process and works:

About two minutes in, you’ll see a large, copper/aluminum American flag the artist brought to Union Square Park shortly after 9-11. Many people signed and etched it with their memories—it’s a beautiful work of art, and a testament to the healing power of art.

This video is well worth watching and Bates Wilson’s work is well worth looking into: www.BatesWilson.com. We’re honored to have hosted Bates at Artexpo.
