Jennifer Contini Enderby's "Big-Hearted" Art Project

Jennifer Contini Enderby, "One Heart Art Project" - collage

Mixed media artist Jennifer Contini Enderby is an artist with a big heart—literally. At Artexpo New York 2011, the philanthropic artist will be unveiling “Time Out New York,” the first in a series of 10 ft. heart sculptures that will celebrate the building and rebirth of Lower Manhattan.

Jennifer says her “One Heart Art Project” will engage the entire downtown Manhattan community. She is asking 12 selected groups of downtown New Yorkers—like the firemen of Lower Manhattan; construction workers from Freedom Tower 5; leaders from lower Manhattan’s churches, synagogues and mosques, etc.—to join in and help finish the design of her sculptures. A professional videographer will be filming the project step-by-step to document the process.

Six years ago, Jennifer sold her first piece of art at PEACE & LOVE Cafe on Greenwich St. in Lower Manhattan. Since then, she has designed and painted her signature “HeartART.”

“Raising money for charity through HeartART is my passion. Three years in a row now I have worked with many non-profit organizations curating art shows to fight cancer and homelessness. Now I want to expand the HeartART to all New Yorkers living and working in Downtown NYC—a rebuilding and rebirth of our Lower Manhattan through the arts.”

Committed to supporting communities, Jennifer often donates artwork to charity events. Last summer, a live-auction sale of her work raised $7,000 in a fundraiser to benefit a homeless shelter in Midland, Texas.

Jennifer is currently in the running for prime studio space in Manhattan, via the People’s Choice Awards. She says:

“If I win the studio space in Manhattan, I will have each group meet weekly to design and decorate the heart sculpture with paint and mixed media. Each month on completion of the designated heart, all residents, commuters, and tourists from around the world will be invited to celebrate the unveiling of the sculpture at the chosen location in Lower Manhattan and then displayed in the city parks. The celebration will include live music, food and NYC souvenirs! Please choose me for this award, I promise it will spread love, above and beyond just one artist.”
