Internet Communications Pioneer Jeff Pulver to Keynote Artexpo NY 2011
Vonage Co-Founder Will Discuss Effects of Social Media on the New Art Marketplace
Three Full Days of Free Educational Seminars Offered at Show
I’m pleased to announce that Jeff Pulver, one of the true pioneers of the VoIP industry and a leading thought-leader on the Real-Time Web, will give the keynote address at Artexpo New York 2011 on Friday, March 25th at 9AM. The chairman and founder of pulver.com will discuss “The Birth of the Back Channel: The Real-Time Web and How It’s Changing How We’re Doing Business”.
Here’s what Jeff Pulver has to say about his upcoming talk:
There’s an evolving backchannel that art professionals need to embrace. Today’s web-based ecosystems are all changing. It’s not ‘we the people’ it’s ‘me, the people.’ We are all connected ‘me’s.’ Now Media is a fusion of the best of old media and new media. People’s reaction to content is what creates momentum. Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and other social media channels allow it to spread. To become a new media mogul, you need to figure out how to create Now Media moments. If you do, you’ll own the future and ensure your success. Real-time web is the catalyst.
Pulver believes that artists and gallery owners have the opportunity and the obligation to listen to what is being said about them and their artists by the community of people who represent their customers. There is an opportunity for artists/gallery owners to listen, connect, share and engage their customers using the social web. And chances are, if they are not currently engaging their customers in social communications, one of their competitors soon will be. Anyone interested in social media should definitely attend this session!
Pulver’s talk will kick off three full days of free seminars and conference classes, with expert perspectives on subjects ranging from art and the economy, to small business management and art marketing, to social media for artists and more. This year, as always, the Artexpo Education Series will offer artists and dealers the tools they need succeed in today’s rapidly changing fine art marketplace. Classes during the Artexpo Education Series will cover critical areas such as selling art to corporations, hospitals, and designers; recent changes in the global marketplace; trends in home art decorating; and newest technologies for reproduction, archiving and art licensing.
Why is education such a big part of Artexpo each year? I’ll let Eric Smith, Artexpo CEO, explain:
We believe education, networking and sharing of experiences are key components of a successful show. We know that everyone needs help in today’s economy and by offering free education taught by leading thought-leaders such as Jeff Pulver and others, we hope attendees will be able to take away practical strategies they can apply to grow their business and succeed in new ways.

More About Jeff Pulver
For those of you not familiar with Jeff Pulver, here’s a little more background. Pulver calls himself “a habitual entrepreneur who likes to start Internet communications companies.” He is known globally as someone who helped popularize the use of Voice over IP (VOIP) and is the co-founder of Vonage. In 2009 he created the global #140 Characters Conferences, which explores the emerging real-time Internet.
On February 12, 2004, Jeff’s petition for clarification declaring Free World Dialup as an unregulated information service was granted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This landmark decision by the FCC was the first decision it made on IP communications.
