Famed Dance Photographer Jordan Matter Reenacts Popular Shot at Artexpo

Last night at Artexpo New York, photographer Jordan Matter of Dancers Among Us and Dancers After Dark fame restaged a shot that originally went viral.

Featuring dancer Cinthia Conlon perched en pointe atop a wine bottle, the original photograph took place on the streets of Chicago, right in front of the Joffrey Ballet studios.

During Friday evening’s Opening Night Preview Party at Artexpo, Matter, once again with the help of the brave ballerina, reenacted the shot as the art-show crowd watched in awe.

“Until yesterday, the only time I’d ever seen Kitty do her wine bottle trick was two years ago, naked in the streets of Chicago at 2 a.m. for Dancers After Dark,” says Matter. “I had forgotten how difficult it is given how effortless the photograph looks. The original photo is the most viral image I have ever posted, and last night a huge crowd gave Kitty a very appreciative applause.”
