"Still Standing" by Hessam Abrishami

We’re very excited to announce, together with exhibitor Studio Fine Art, that world renowned artist Hessam Abrishami will be unveiling the September 11 remembrance painting “Still Standing” at Artexpo New York on Saturday, March 26. Hessam will donate the 48″ x 36″ acrylic on canvas, valued at $24,000, to the FDNY Foundation Inc. The painting will then be auctioned off on April 14, 2011 at the FDNY Foundation’s Annual Dinner.

Hessam will unveil the painting at noon on Saturday and present it to a uniformed FDNY (Fire Department New York) representative at Studio Fine Art’s Booth #907.

For Hessam, “Still Standing” is a very personal statement, one that bridges two cultures. He explains his inspiration for creating it:

I see a similar devastation almost every day in my country, Iran. I know how hard it is and I know how proud we can be of the American people for coming together and moving forward.

Hessam is an expressionist painter, known for his use of vibrant colors and his dynamic sense of composition. As part of the contemporary art scene for more than forty years. he has exhibited in over 100 solo gallery shows and over 25 international exhibitions. Hessam has also shown his work in multiple museum exhibits, including the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Tehran, Iran, the Museum of Arts and Sciences of Daytona Beach, Florida, and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Based in Westlake Village, California, Studio Fine Art is the art publishing company of artists Hessam Abrishami, Goli Mahallati, and Parviz Payghamy, and is the official distributors of their original paintings, limited edition prints, and bronze sculptures.

Free Arts Day with Jane Seymour! 9 a.m. – Noon, March 26

Don’t miss our fun, exciting Free Arts Day! From 9 am – noon on Saturday, March 26, world-renowned actress and artist Jane Seymour will team up with New York City youth to paint an Andy Warhol-inspired mural! Canvases will be generously donated by Fredrix® Artist Canvas.

Chris will be signing copies of Art Business News at his booth from 2-4 pm, each day of the show.

In past years, Dellorco has been widely considered one of Disney’s top illustrators for print advertising. In the entertainment field, he has illustrated numerous movie posters, and won a wide range of awards as both an advertising artist and fine artist, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from Artist’s For A Better World.

Dellorco’s oil paintings exhibit near photo realism, yet still capture a certain level of artistic beauty and sensuality. Generally, they depict the female figure, shrouded in richly colored fabrics, while dramatically set against Old World European architecture. Often the architecture represents a historically significant European landmark, such as Versailles or the Pantheon. Each painting reveals a subtle, yet provocative story contrasting human beauty and frailty with the solidity and strength of mankind’s greatest monuments.

Currently, Dellorco shows his fine art oils and limited edition prints at galleries spanning the United States. He currently exhibits his work on Celebrity, Disney, Crystal and Norwegian Cruise Lines, and has been featured on the cover of Premier Magazine, Art Business News, Society and Décor Magazine.

"Golden Light" by Georgeana Ireland

Today’s Artwork of the Day is “Golden Light,” a 40″ x 40″ mixed media original on canvas by Georgeana Ireland, who will be exhibiting and doing a live painting demonstration at Artexpo New York 2011.

Georgeana Ireland’s style could be classified as Romantic Abstract Expressionism. She paints to passionate orchestral rock music with brushstroke speeds that have been clocked at 238 strokes a minute. Her influences are past masters like Turner and Redon, as well as other painters of the Romantic movement, the Abstract Expressionism movement and the Hudson River School.

Georgeana will be painting an abstract landscape accompanied by music at Artexpo New York 2011 on Saturday, March 26 at 11:00AM.

Growing up in a town in rural Oregon, Georgeana’s artistic talent was discovered at an early age and encouraged by her grandmother, also an artist. By the time Georgeana was 16 years old she was painting more than three hours a day and selling her work. Her national debut was in Carmel, California, at the age of 21. Georgeana continued exhibiting in galleries and museums across the U.S. and has received numerous awards for her paintings. Her murals can be found in the historic Multnomah Hotel and the Willamette building in Portland, OR; the Sunriver Lodge and Resort in Sunriver, OR; and numerous private collections in Oregon, Washington, and California.

An autodidact, Georgeana honed her artistic skills with classes under master artists, extensive research and travels to art museums in Russia, Italy, France, Prague, Vienna and London. “Seeing the original brushstrokes of the masters up close has had a profound influence on my new work,” she says.

Since moving to California in 2002, Georgeana has maintained an active exhibition schedule with galleries, museums and private commissions.

Jeff Pulver, Artexpo New York 2011 Keynote Speaker

Internet phone pioneer Jeff Pulver spoke to NewsBlaze the other day about the power of social of media for artists, the subject of Jeff’s upcoming keynote address at Artexpo New York 2011.

Since blazing the trail for Voice-over IP (VOIP) and co-founding Vonage, Jeff has become a thought leader in the social media, the Real-Time Web, internet television, and their transformation of the art marketplace. Jeff’s March 25 keynote, “The Birth of the Back Channel: The Real-Time Web and How It’s Changing How We’re Doing Business,” will kick off three days of free educational seminars and conference classes for art professionals.

“People want to own buzz,” the pulver.com founder told NewsBlaze. “If you want to be a trend or want to be popular, you have to do something interesting and engage with your audience, we’re living in times where you have to make a transition. We’re living through a revolution, a social change where individual voices are affecting change around the world.”

Jeff’s talk will get artists thinking about how they can create that buzz to reach the public and grow their careers through social networking sites and YouTube.

 Saturday, March 26, Artexpo New York is teaming up with Free Arts NYC, a Manhattan-based non-profit helping under-served children and families to foster the self-confidence and resiliency needed to realize their fullest potential, through arts and mentoring programs.

Jane and the kids will be painting a fun, stylish Warhol-style mural on canvases generously donated by Fredrix® Artist Canvas at Artexpo New York’s Pier 94 site, with 10% of all door sales from March 25-27 benefiting Free Arts NYC. Exhibitors will also be encouraged to donate 5% of their sales from the show.

Free Arts NYC is a dedicated and caring group of volunteer mentors that delivers creative arts programs directly to low-income, homeless, abused and neglected children. The Free Arts NYC office is located in Midtown Manhattan.

With Free Arts NYC, actor and artist Jane Seymour has found a partner in her ongoing mission to help people re-imagine their worlds and transform their lives through the creative arts — a commitment that comes from the way art helped Jane transform herself.

I started painting when my life fell apart. After my first watercolor lessons, I could not stop painting. It stopped me from becoming depressed, I managed to function. I don’t think there is anything more important than introducing people to the arts — especially young kids. This is a way that they can communicate how they feel and they can really fulfill their potential. It’s been proven that through the arts, kids start excelling in school. They excel in life, and really communicate without being in a violent environment.

In addition to her work with Free Arts NYC, Jane also uses her own artwork to benefit others in need. She is the founder of the Open Hearts Foundation, and all of the proceeds from her artwork go to charity. A prolific and talented painter, Jane has more than 40 solo shows to her credit. She has also published four books; she designs jewelry, fashion and furniture; and she recently appeared on Dancing With the Stars,
