“Participating twice in the Solo show at Artexpo New York represented a great boost for my career.
I entered the show for the first time in 2006 not knowing what to expect: from the small Maine art market to mythical NYC, NY – anything was possible! I was confident about my paintings, but one never knows if the subject and style happen to match industry’s expectations at a national level… I was prepared to not recuperate the participation fee, if the worst was to happen; to my immense pleasure the opposite happened, actually: I sold every original and several giclée prints the first day of the show, signed up with a prestigious Florida gallery and made excellent contacts with other dealers and publishers from the US and overseas.
Naturally, I then aligned my artwork prices to the market’s higher standards, and had an excellent 2006 year!
It looked like at Artexpo New York 2007 I could not have done any better than that, but I did: sold every original the day before the official opening, while I was still hanging the pieces on the wall! It seems that the European market was particularly interested in my art this year. Several notable names in the industry remembered me from last year and tried to meet me first, in order to secure an acquisition or a long-term deal. What can I say; Artexpo New York 2007 was a success for me, as well! The only thing that I felt was missing was an “official” confirmation of my artistic accomplishments…
That confirmation came this September, at the first Artexpo show in Las Vegas: Artexpo Las Vegas proved to be exceptional for me: the last day of the show, an official delegation of the organizers and jury members surprised me with the precious, long coveted SOLO Award for Painting, which a very tired me accepted with pride and great emotion.
Thank you ArtExpo, I’ll see you next year in NYC!” –Oana Lauric
