Trained in mathematics and engineering, have worked in a variety of fields including commodity trading, film production, and chemical manufacturing, before arriving at the printmaking arts of lithography and etching, and to cameraless photography. Have taught for many years at the International Center of Photography, the Manhattan Graphics Center, and elsewhere. Direct the nonfigurativephoto blog. Have exhibited in the U.S., the U.K., Belgium, France, Czech Republic, and India.
The work shown here is a photograph from my camera-less practice, made without a camera, using simply Foma fiber-base paper and standard photographic darkroom chemicals. The marks are made with knives and similar tools.
